ROTORUA DEFEATED
WHAKATANE VISIT. : On Saturday a men's -team from the Rotorua Golf Glub visited Whakatane and played matches against the Whakatane Club '-on> the new eighteen hole golf course. During the morning a singles match was played and the afternooU was taken up with four ball contests, Whakatane proving the winners in both events. In the singleS Rotorua could only win two and square tWo matches, and their successes in the afternoon games were no better. . At the conclusion of the day's play Dr. Hay, on behalf of the yisiting players, expressed appreciation of the welcome - extended by the Whakatane club and , said that the visit had proved a most en j oyable one to the Rotorua team. He expressed special thanks to the ladies. .for .their efforts in entertaining the team, and congratulated the club members on their enterprise in securing such a fine course for Whakatane. The president of the Whakatane Club, Mr. Clarke, .thanked Dr. Hay for his remarks, and said that . the Whakatane members hoped ,to be able to visit the Rotorua Club during the season, and that they would always Welcome the Rotorua players on the Whakatane course. • The results of the matches played are as follow.
