SHARP RISE HOLDS PROMISE FOR GROWERS

LONDON, Saturday. At the wool saies 8438 bales were offered, including 1910 of New Zealand. About 4950 bales were sold. There was sustained horne and con-' tinehtal competition and prices further hardened. Compared with the June closing ratos, to-day's prices show the following increases: — Merir.o, 10 to 15 per eent. Greasy crossbreds (fine), 10 to 15 per cent. Greasy crossbreds (medium and coarse), 25 to 30 per cent. Slipes, 15 to 20 per cent. Following are the prices realised for the fleece portion of clips of New" Zealand clips, greasy crossbred, "Puha", top priee 9!d., average 71d; scoured halfbred pieces "Round Top" ; 15id and 142d.'
