HEATED DISCUSSION ON IRISH REPRISAL BILL DE VALERA'S PRIDE
— By Telegraph — Copyright)
DUBLIN, Saturday. When the Dail debate was resumed Mr. S. McEntee (Minister of Finance) tabled a motion to guillotine the Bill. This was carried by 69 to 55 votes, so the Bill will be passed through all its stages to-day. A heated discussion precede'd the vote. Mr. W. T. Cosgrave * accused the Government of gross incompetence. Mr. Mulcahy (an ex-Minister) protested against Mr. de Valera's ahsence last night when he ought to have explained the meaning of the Bill. Mr. Blythe (also an ex-Minister) said if the negotiations with England failed the fault would be on the side of the Irish representatives. This brought angry eries of "traitor" from the Government supporters. Mr. P. McGilligan (another ex-Min-ister) said the Government was foolish enough to believa that Britain did nat see the drilling in the Free State, the illegal possession of arms and the tearing down of the Union Jack. Ireland was' run by the pride of one man — namely, the president — in order to legitimatise his past record of which he was proud. The Bill was passed by 68 to 57 votes, and will go to the Senate on Monday, 18th inst.
