CLERK PLEADS GUILTY TO EMBEZZLEMENT * OF £1720 DUNEDIN, Friday. William Francis Cfooke, a clerk, was charged to-day with the theft of divers sunis of money amounting to £1720, the property of the Grand Lodge of the. Independent Order of Oddfellows. The defalcations extended from February, 1930, to April, 1932. James Gibson Patterson, accountant and auditor, said that accused had forged receipts and had altered genuine documents to enable him to steal the money, and to fit in with his scheme. Restitution had been made, but not wholly. Accused pleaded guilty and was committed for sentence. Bail was allowed, self £550 and two sureties of £500.
