CATHEDRAL DAMAGED

Rec. July 15, 7.30 p.m. LONDON, Friday. During an Orange riot, the mob attacked the Liverpool Cathedral, and brolce a valuable stained glass window, 24 feet in height and designed by Sir Gilbert Scott. Three hundred people singing hymns, on the hill on which the cathedral stood, hurled bricks throngh the windows of Our Lady's Chapel. A hystander pulled the fire alarm, but the mob threw missles at the fire engine. The police arrived and found the mob scattered in side streets, where there were many other disturbances. The main thoroughfares at one time were impassahle, and many windows were smashed in Cockburn Street.
