The Free State Lahour leader (Mr. Norton) proceeded to London, where he conferred with the leader of the British Labour Party (Mr. George Lansbury) and later participated in a conference with Mr. MacDonald at No. 10, Downing Street. Following this Iatest development, hopes of a coiripromise are revived.

LONDON, Friday. The sudden departure bf the Lahour leader, Mr. Norton, to confer with British Labour, is interpreted as Irish Labour's threat to withdraw support from Mr. de Valera on the grounds that the tariff reprisals would increase the cost of living. Mr .Norton and Mr. de Valera previously had 41 long interview, at which it is understood the former was dissatisfied with the assurance that the cost of living would not be aff ected. It is generally felt that it will be a day of tense crisis in the Dail, and the possibility of an early election will be revived if Mr. de Valera is bereft of Labour's balance of power.
