VERITY TAKES TEN WICKETS FOR TEN, IN COUNTY CRICKET
-By Telegraph — Copyright)
LONDON, Wednesday. H. Verity, the Yorkshire and English representative cricketer, put up an outstanding performance in the latest county cricket games by capturing the ten Nottingham wickets at a cost of one run each. This is, perhaps, the hest bowling performance ever recorded in county cricket. "The finest bowling performance in history," is Gilligan's tribute to Verity's performance, which included the hat-trick. The wickets contributing to the hat-trick were those of Walter Harris and Dunn. Verity howled 19.4 overs, which included 16 maidens. The previous best performance was that of Geary's ten wickets for 18 runs against Glammorgan in 1929. The hot sun following heavy rain made Verity 's high delivery and wonderful §pin, unplayable. Gilligan is of the opinion that Verity will be invaluable in the rainy periods during the tour of Austra lia. t
