The Government meteorologist i«sued the following weather report and forecast last night: — General situation: A cyclone is moving o'n to the North Island today, while a westerly depression has been crossing the South Island. Forecast: Winds northerly, but becoming south,er!y ifi the next 24 hours, moderate to strong generally, but reaching gale force at places. Weather: Dull, misty with general rain, many heavy falls, especially in the North Isla'nd; temperatures becoming cold with snow on the ranges and also in parts of the low levels of the South Island. Following are the barometer, maxlmum and minjmuWi. thermometer, an'd rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tpurist Department, for the 24 hours ehded at 9.30 a.m. yesterday: — Barometer 29.839ins. Thermometer (max.) 49.8deg. Thermometer (min.) 36.7deg. Thermometer /nin. on grass) 30.5deg. Rainfall Nil Bright Sunshine 0.6hrs.
