THE WEATHER
The Government meteorologist Ibsued the followlng weather report and foreeast last nlght: — % General situatlon: An anticyclone is situated WeSt of Tasmania and extends to New.Zealand; a new cyclone is now located over the western Tasman Sea. Forecast: Winds, variable with easterlies prevailing in the North Isia'nd and soufherlies and south-east-erlies over the South Island, light to moderate, but later freshening. Weather; Mainly fair at first, but with some isoiated showers; cloud and mist increasing soon, however, and rain developing at first in the northern and southern extremities, and later exte'nding to other districts. Following are the barometer, maxlmum a'nd minimum thepmometer, and rainfall readings recprded at the Government Observatlon Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department, for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday: — Barometer 29.S58ins. Thermometer (max.) 52.6deg. Thermometer (min.) 34.4deg. Thermometer (min. o'n grass) 28.7deg. Rainfall Nil Bright Sunshine 2.1hrs.
