ANNUAL MEETING OF OPOTffil CITIZENS' CLUB. SUCCESSFUL SEASON. The annual meeting of the Citizens' Bowling Club was held in the County Council chambers on Wednesday evening, when there was a good attendanee of members. The president, Mr. W. A. Stevens, announced the death of Mr. J. Forbes and expressed the regret of the club at the loss of a foundation and life memb'er. The members stood in silence for a few moments as a mark of respect. The president then read his report, which was as follows: — "It gives me great pleasure to report that, although we have been passing through times of depression we have had a very sucecssful year. Our membership has risen from 30 to 41. "While we started the year with an overdraft of £33, this h'as been reduced to £25, besides which we have purchased and paid for a new mower, mats, etc., costing about £30. The club has also paid about £10 for improvements made before it took over and about £5 7s lld for club trophies, engraving, etc. "The four games played against the Opotiki Club for the pennant were most enjoyable> the club winning two and losing two. We are looking forward to more games this year. "The usual games with Taneatua and Whakatane were also greatly enjoyed by everybody, and so also was an unofficial visit of a rink from Auckland. "The Francis Cup, which' was won by Rotorua, who played on our green, saw sbme very fine play indeed and the eommittee are to be congratiilated on the ruhnihg of the tournament. Election of Officers. The election of officers for the ensuing season resulted: — President, Mr. H. Briggs; vice-preside'nt, Mr. G. Moody; secretary, Mr. P. Clark; eommittee, Messrs. C. Tabb, W. Stevens, W. FreW, W. Patterson and C. Borrie; atidtior, Mr. T. Morten; green superintendent, Mr. O'Creagh; gteen-keep-er, Mr. J. Shiith; selection eommittee, MesgtSi W. Stevens, O'Creagh, J. : O'SulIivari and G. Moody. The subscriptions were fixed at £2 103, the same rate as last year. It was decided that Mr. O'Creagh be made an honorary member, and that an honorarium of £6 be paid to th'e green sueprintendent. Mr. Payne moved that the greenkeeper's fee be increased by the incoming eommittee to alloW of his rollifig the green on three days a week inStead of two as previously. Mr. Payne pointed out that owing to the WedneSday half-holiday many members wefe only able to play on Sundays.
