CURRENCY PROBLEMS
CAPTAIN RUSHWORTH, M.P., ADDRESSES NAPIER GATHERING. . IMMEDIAAE ACTION NECESSARY * NAPIER, Frlday. The address on currency problems and their solution, delivered last evening in the Methodist Hall, Napier, hy Captain H. M. Rushworth, M.P., under the auspices of the Stable Money LeagUe, was closely followed and thoroughly appreciated by a large attendance. The hall was packed to the doors when the speaker was introdueed by Sir Andrew Russell, the president of the Stable Money League. At tlre conclusion of Captain Rushworth's address a vote of thanks was accorded on the motion of Mr. W. E. Barnard, M.P. The following motion, moved hy Mr. W. G. Wood and seconded by Mr. Barnard, was also carried at the conclusion of the address:— "That this public meeting of busij ness -nren, promoted by the Stable i Money League of Napier, and addressj ed by Captain Rushworth, M.P., being , fully alive to the desperate straits into which the community has fallen, and realising that immediate action is imperative, with the view to preventing further deflation in the internal price level and to raising it to a ! level at which production can he car- | ried on with reasonable profit and to j the promotion thereafter of stability j in the internal price structure, urgent- ! ly appeals to the Government of New | Zealand to consider without delay the I whole question of monetary reform, I with the object of devising a scheme, to be put into immediate operation, wh'ereby the present defects in the j monetary system within this country i may be removed and that this reso- | lution he forwarded at once to the j Honourable the Minister of Finance."
