-By Telegraph— Copyright).
(Received July 10, 5 p.m.) BRISBANE, Sunday. In view of the fact that Queensland was playing six players who had | participated in the first test, it was ■ expected to provide solid opposition, I but the side fielded by the All Blacks revealed their best form since arriving in Australia, running out the winners convincingly by 28 points to 8, after leading by 14 to nil at half time. New Zealand won the toss and took advantage of the strong wind hlowing from goal post to goal post. Collins was early prominent with speedy bursts, but Queensland went close to scoring when Ritter combined well with Wood. Bullock-Douglas was then nearly over. Two minutes later, Collins opened the score with a penI alty kick. New Zealand was now definitely on [ top, and Hore scored near the corner, after SolPmon had made an opening. Kilby then set his backs moving, Ball crossing over for a grand try. The same player was over again six minutes later, Pollock converting. After' half time, Queensland ralli'ed and Lindsay scored. Lawton converted. Lawton kicked a penalty goal immediately afterwa'rds, making the score 14 — 8 in New Zealand's favour. N.Z. Supremacy. The All Blacks rallied magnificently, and playing right above their opponents, added another 14 points". Innes and Bullock-Douglas scored splendid tries, Collins converting both, while Page added a well judged field goal. Queensland made valiant endeavours to stem the tide, but the New Zealand backing up, both in defence and attack, was faultless. The game was played on the Exhibition Qval, where the second test will be waged next Saturday. The crowd numbered 10,000 and the gates totalled £400. The Oval is capable of holding 55,000. Notes On The Players. Solomon was the star of the match, his work in open play being a revelation. Manchester, Steere, and Hore proved themselves tireless ruckers. The best New Zealand back was Page, though Collins was safety itself as full back. Ball and BullockDouglas made the most of their opportunities and proved a speedy pair. Lawton had a day off for Queensland, lacking in the inspiring leadership which he had revealed in the first test match. The injured All Blacks are all doing well. Brisbane doctors think that Hart is certain to be well for the third test at Sydney. Steere slightly hurt his knee against Queensland, but will be ready for the test. Proetor and Lilburne are suffering from minor injuries. The All Blacks have agreed to play the Brisbane-Ipswich team next Thursday in view of the fact that a half holiday has been proclaimed in the iatter centre. The Australian team for the second test at Brisbane will be : — Ross, Steggall, King, Sturtbridge and Cowper; Lawton (captain), Malcolm, Clark, M. White, Briessle, Cook, Bland, Cerutti, Boris, Love. There are no changes in the team, which is as originally selected for the first test. To date the All Blacks have played five matches, of which they have won four and lost one.
