STATE INTERFERENCE WITH RATE OF EXCHANGE OPPOSED.

WELLINGTON, Friday. The Farmers' Union adopted the following remit without discussiqn: That the exchange on a natiorial basis is the property of the exporter or importer, and as such should be beyond the right of the Government to interfere with; also that exports should not be commandeered unless there is such a state of national necessity that all serviee and property are taken over by the nation. A novel proposal was contained in the following remit moved by Mr. T. Currie, of Wanganui: — That this conference is of opinion that the liability of mortgagors or tenants to tffeir mortgagees or landlords should be in exact ratio to the current mar- : ket value of produce and stock, or both.
