THE WEATHER
The Goye^rnm^pt meteorologist issued the foltowing weather report and forecast last night: — General situation: A deep cyclone is centred in the Tasman Sea; pressure is low at the Chatham Islands. Forecast: Winds strong northerlies or north-westerlies, Teaching gale force in placeS' and backing later to south-easterlies in the far south. Weather: Becoming ' stormy and rain developing in the western and 'northern districts, and becoming general during the week-end with some heavy falls; temperatures mild with a cold change to-morrow in southern districts. Following are tne barometer, maxtmtim ?.nd minimiim thermometer, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department, for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m- yesterday: — Barometer 30.100ins. Thermometer (max.) 58.4deg. Thermometer (min.) 4l.9deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 34.2deg Rainfall Trace Bright Sunshine 2.7hrs.
