MASQUERADE BALL

BRIGHT COSTUMES AT PLAIN AND FANCY DRESS DANCE. A very successful and well attended plain and fancy dress masquerade ball in aid of St.- Stephen's Church was held in the Lyric Hall on Monday evening. The popular Semla orchestra supplied the musie, and the supper, which was provided by the committee and oth'er ladies of the parish were excellent. The room was charmingly decorated in coloured streamers, and balloons ornamented the lights. Mesdames Rcwland and Hambly and Mr. V. Elliott were judges of the grand parade. The prize-winners were Miss K. Jephson for the prettiest fancy dress (Charmaine), Mr. A, Dodgson for the most original (Chinaman), and Miss F. Sydenham and Mr. W.
