Ohinemutu Blow-Out The works committee of the Rotorua Borough Council has deeided not to take any steps at present to repair the damage done in Tuhoukotuku Street, Ohinemutu, by the recent thermal blow out. Boys' Band Arrangements are being made to hold another concert to raise funds in aid of the boys' band. Assistance with the programme will be given by the Municipal Band, and St. Michael's Maori Ghoir under the baton of the Rev. Fath'er Hoagfeld. Record Trout Mounted The big 251b brown trout Which was found stranded in the Tongariro River last season, has been stuffed and mounted by Mr. W. Holmes, of Hamilton. The specimen will be hung in the office of the Conservator of Fish and Game at Rotorua. Ladies' Golf Match An error occurred in the results of the ladies' golf match' supplied for publication in the "Morning Post" yesterday. The winning cards in last Week's B grade medal competition were stafad to have been handed in by Miss Corlett and Mrs Finn, whereas the cards aetually belonged to Mrs Worthington and Mrs Ormsby. Old Pupils' Ball The main business transacted at the monthly meeting of the Rotorua High School.Old Pupils' Association, was in connection with the arrangements for the annual ball which will be held on "Wednesday, July 27. These are now well in hand and the executive is loolcing to members of the association to make the occasion an outstanding success. Street Improvement Steps are now being taken to improve Elizabeth, Ann and James Street by unemployed labour. Waste spoil will be used to fill up levels in Malfroy Road, and Pererika Streets. Steps will also be taken to bring Malfroy Road west up to the standard of Pererika Street. Two additional lights have also been granted for Malfroy Road, west. Bath at Ohinemutu The bath on tbe Ohinemutu waterfront which' has been standing a long time without a water supply is now to be connected up. The Works Committee of tbe Borough Council paid an inspection visit to the structure this week and deeided to proeeed with the work at once if private owners concerned are prepared to allow the necessary water pipes to be taken through their properties. Unwelcome Yisitor An unexpected visitor to the fowlrun of a Rotorua resident last night was an opossum. Hearing a commotion amongst the poultry the resident arrived in time to see the visitor disappearing from the garden. A dead hen, partially eaten, was a souvenir which was not appreciated. 'Possoms have been known previously to show a liking for eggs but their reeruitment to tbe ranlcs of the carnivora is a new departure. Shooting Trophy It is probable that the GovernorGeneral's trophy for cadet rifle-shoot-ing will be presented to SdrgeantMajor W. Bates' winning team at the concert being arranged for the boys' band. The Rotorua cadets headed the list of New Zealand teams in the Imperial Challenge Shield cadet shooting competitions. Colonel J. E. Duigan D.S.O., O.C. Northern Command, has expressed a wish' that the Mayor, Mr T. Jackson, make the presentation. Many Motor Vebicles. The statistics of the registration of motor vehicles throughout the Dominion as at the end of May reveal the fact that the number of registrations in the South Auckland distriet is considerably larger tban in any other distriet in the country. The total of 46,309 vehicles in nse in the South Auckland distriet on May 31 exceeds by 17,035 the next largest total, Wellington West, which has 29,274 vehicles on the road. The total of 46,309 includes 30,836 motor cars, 7,846 motor trucks, 6,962 cycles, 250 omnibuses, and 415 other types of motor vehicles. It is interesting to note that the number of dorman tn vehicles during 1930-31 inereased by 7,333 on the previous year's fiugres.

To-morrow's Cycle Race A cycle road race of approximately 22 miles will be held by the Rotorua Amateur Athletic Cluh to-morrow afternoon over a return course from the corner of Fenton Street and Te Ngae Road to the Mourea Post Office. Owing to the illness of some of the riders, only six cyclists have entered for the race, but the event will nevertheless serve as excellent training and experience for the local riders, who will probably be competing against the members of the Waikato Cycle Club in a challenge race at Rotorua over a course of 35 miles on July 31. To-morrow's race will be under sealed handicap and the following have entered for the event: R. Henry, G. Haycock, H. Howe, N. Howe, J. McCall and G. Dahlin.
