In the match between High School and City on Saturday, High ' School gained a victory after a well fbught game in which the'school played exceedingly hai'd. From a scrum City took the ball up field but High School were grahted a free kick to which City replied finding the line in High School's 25. From the line out City put in a good dribbling rush, but Burton gathering the ball found the line at half way. After several lineouts the school foi"wards gained the bail and took it down field, but the City full back safely found touch at the 25 yard line. A scrum was formed after the lineout. B. Park gained the ball, but was caught in possession. Sydney managed to carry the play back to half for City, but High School returned it to City's twenty-five. Following a line out High School kicked too far and Burton forced down. From a scrum at the twenty-five Parkinson found touch at half way. High School gained possession from the throw in and L. Kelly kicked high for Burton to take on the full and return to half. Here, Moreton, taking possession, passed to Syd. Hiekey, who made a good run before passing across field to Hurndle, who was brought back owing to an infringement. . City Score First. From the scrum Shom Kelly put in an excellent run to score under the posts. Syd. Hickey added points with' the kick, making the score City 5, High School' nil. City quickly took the play into their opponents' territory, but Moreton was caught in possession. High School, granted a kick for an infringement in the scrum, failed to gain ground. After several free kicks had taken play up and down the field, Mansell gained possession for High School from a line out in their twenty-five and brought play down field until forced out. High School forced the play from the line out again, but Burton took possession and found touch at half with a good kick. : Loose play resulting after the line out, Shom Kelly was able to gather up the ball ahd naake a good run, but Was brought down short of the line. Half time was called as a scrum was being formed. High School kicked off and found the line. City, gaining the advantage in a loose rush, Moreton received the ball and took the play iiito the High School twenty-five, where School were given a penalty. High School Score. This took the ball to City's twentyfive, but Hurndle made a good run into School's territory. Loose play took place until S. Hickey picked the ball up only to be forced out of play. When the ball returned to play High School forwards managed to hustle it down and over the City line to score, but the kick failed. Score: City 5, High School 3. Shortly after the kick off when the play had been takeri to High School territory the game was held up owing to Shom Kelly being injured. On resumptio'n R. Park forced the play to High School goal line but a penalty in favouf of the school saved the situation. J. Park gained possession and brought play back again and Morton securing from a scrum, put in a strong run to score. The kick failed. Score, City 8, High School 3. School Attacks An exchange of kicks put Appleton in possession. He put his backs into action and a nice exhibition of passing took play to City's area. From an exchange of kicks following a line out J. Park eventually gained possession to run up field to High School's twenty-five where a scrum was formed. The play returned to City ground. City made another good attempt but Appleton saved well. From a line out R. Parkinson broke away and brought play to the High School line, the ball going out of play once more. Wolfenden taking possession when it returned made a very good run, but was brought down at half way. Hickey found the line. Score Evened Spiendid play by High School backs enabled them to score again, Appleton converting. High School 8, City 8. From the kick off good play by Hickey, Kelly and Hurndle took the play to the School line. A scrum was formed and Hickey gaining possession managed to cross the line but the score was not allowed. Two scrums followed in quick succession then R. Parkinson forced t|ie ball out of play. High School topk the ball from their line out to City's twenty-five and from a penalty Appleton kicked a goal making the score High School 11, City 8. Shortly after resumption R. Parkinson was hurt. When play was resumed J. Parkinson broke away and made a good run down a elear field but failed to score. Up and down play followed until time was called with the score remaining High School 11, City 8.
