POSED AS STRANGERS
The common encmy to the movement for relieving real distress is the man who resorts to a "try on. A small party who planned such a scheme in Dunedin last wcek found the agent upon whom the triclc was sought to be imposed quite prepared with a foiling counterstroke that will "se.ttle" them for the time • bemg. They posed as strangers who had walked 150 miles to this city, fagged out and utterly destitute, and asked for hotel accommodation. _ ihey ended their enterprise by being recognised as old and known residents of Dunedin.
