SUNDAY MEETINGS

no permits for political gatherings^in hamilton HAMILTON, Thursday. Permission to hold Sunday meetings in a local theatre was refused the Hamilton branch of the Labour Party by the Borough Council last evening. Strong opposition to the request was expressed by Mr. C. Lafferty, who said he considered the council would be inviting trouble. When a previous applieation from another Labour hody came before the council it was alleged that part of its literature was Communistic. He had interviewed some members, who denied the insinuation, and "said the Labour party was loyal, not revolutionary. Mr. A. J. Denz : After all, the party is His Majesty's Opposition. Replying to a couneillor, the Mayor, Dr. F. D. Pinfold, gave an assurance that all politieal parties would be treated similarly.
