Bayley, head of the Christchurch brafich of the Lahour Department, denied that the Unemployment Board had negelected to seek advice frojn hospitai. boards. He states. that hi's officers .have sought and have obtained valuabie. adyiqe frpm officers qf the ,;hospital hoard. It was only natural that the Unempioyment . Board's methods should he critieised, when peopie who had Jbeen yeceiving rations from hospitai boards were refused rations hy the Department. A few cases might be of interest to hospitai boards and to those who are paying unempioyment tax. These cases had been receiving rations from the hospitai board. . They were as f ollows. — "(1) Total incoine of, £7 5s 4d weekly, t(2).income :of £4 5s 4d weekiy, (3) inqonie qf £4 10s weekly, (4) ineome of £4 11s weekly, (5) income of £4 9s. weekly, (6) income of £4 5s yreekly (7) £7 18s 2d weekly, (8) £4 8s weekly. These people had always received assistance from the hospitai hqard, said Mr. Bayley, but have been turned down under the Unempioyment Board's . scheme.
