Rec. June 30, 7.0 p.m. CHICAGO, Wednesday. The Demoeratic Convention surrendered itself to the delegates for 3| hours' discussion on prohibition. Since the minority plank • is advocating resubmission rather than direct repeal, the question was placed on the floor. Dozens of spokesmen were cheered or booed depending on their sentiments. The convention was in a continuous uproar. . Al. Smith received a tremendous ovation when he delivered an effective address favouring repeal. The vote resulted in 934 for the repeal of the Amendment, to 213 votes in favour of recoujsideration only of the repeal amendment.
