"Just Thinking" There was an interesting interlude at the monthly xneeting of the Opotiki Borough Council held on Tuesday evening, reports our Opotiki correspondent. A councillor asked the Mayor a question regarding the transfer of the school area to the Borough Council. After waiting anxiously for a reply for an appreciable interval, the councillor asked his Worship wliether he was unable to answer the question as he was "developing a headache" waiting for a reply. His Worship, our correspondent reeords, replied briefly that "he was just thinkitig." No Inquest Necessary. The circumstances surrounding the death of Mrs. Muriel I. Angell, who was found dead in her house on the
shore of Lake Roto Ehu, on Wednesday evening, have been investigated by the Coroner, Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M., and he has decided that an inquest will be unnecessary. It appears that Mrs. Angell had been subject to seizures, and some eight months ago was an inmate of the Whakatane Hospital. A medical ce)> tificate of death from one of these seizures has been given. W.E.A. Evening. A pleasant evening was sp'ent by members of the Rotorua branch of tbe W.E.A. on Tuesday, when time was devoted to an interesting discussion on chamber and symphony music, illustrated by gramophone seleetions from the works of Cesar Franck and Brahms. This coming Tuesday the club will read Stanley Hougbton's well-known play, "The Younger Generation." Tbe evening will take the form of an open night, and visitors will be very welcome.
Yisiting Natives The Hon. Sir Apirana Ngata, Mr Tau Henare, M.P., and the party of visiting Maoris who are at present in Rotorua, inspected the Horohoi'o settlement yesterday. In the evening, they were entertained at Whakarewarewa Pa and accorded a hearty welcome. This morning the party leaves for Mourea where they will take part in a big hui organised in connection with the opening of the new diningroom in that village. After lunch the journey will he continued to Maketu where preparations are on foot for a big reception. Galatea-Te Teko Road The official opening of the Gala-tea-Te Teko Road has been fixed for Wednesday, July 6. The Hon. E. A. Ransom, Minister of Lands, will not be able to attend, but the ceremony will probably he performed by Sir Apirana Ngata. Sight and Hearing. Mr. R. A. Noedl, Optician and Deaf Aid Specialist, of Palmerston North, is visiting Rotorua and may be consulted at Len Fisher, Ltd., Chemists, Fenton Street, on Saturday 2nd, Monday 4th, and Tuesday 5th. Mr. Noedl is sole representative in the Dominion for Messrs. F. C. Rein and Son, London, makers of over threo hundred aids to hearing, and scientific acoustical instrument makers to H.M. Government. All persons hard of hearing or deaf should not fail to consult Mr. Noedl. During this visit special arrangements have been made for sight testing, and residents of Rotorua and district requiring glasses or lenses to their own frames are requested to call at Len Fisher, Ltd., Chemists.
