THE WEATHER
The Government meteorologist iasued the following weather report and forecast last night: — General situation: An intensive a'nti-cyclone has moved on to New Zealand, jyhile a depression has been passing to the northward. Forecast: Winds moderate to strong southerlies, of gale force in exposed positions in and north of Cook Strait. Weather: Cold and changeable with scattered showers, but mainly fair in j/yestern districts, gradually improving generally; severe frosts in the South Island to-night. Following are tbe barometer, maximum ?.'nd minimum iihermometer, and rainfall r£§dings recorded at the Govi ernment Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department, for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday: — Barometer 29.976ins.
