:ONGRESS COLOURS TORN UF AND POLICE CHARGE CROWD PROTECTIQN DEMANDED

Rec. June 27, 7.0 p.m. LONDON, Monday. An Orange mob attacked a special train carrying Eucharistic Congress pilgrims at Ballymena, where they smashed the windows jnd several pilgrims were injured. Crowds of hooligans thronged the ;treets singing party songs, abus[ng the Pope, and beseiging the silgrims. On arriving at the station, [he pilgrims were beaten, kicked Lnd pelted with stones. Bottles and Itones were thrown at the trams larrying pilgrims to Belfast stalon. The police charged the crowds. jThe pilgrims at Larne were attackI, and half the steamers had their [rtholes broken with stones. jDuring the Orange parade at DonIiana, Tyrone, the flags* of the Con|e?s colours were hauled down and Irned. Considerable stone throwing |d revolver shooting oecurred, but ibody was seriously injured. ■The Bishop of Down, telegraphed fc Minister of Home Affairs demandKr protection of the pilgi'ims on their ineward journey.
