Appreciation. Very gratifying support was aeeorded the Rotorua Women's Club for its recent stalls conducted at the Winter Show, and the club wishes to express its appreciation of the very generous response which was made to its appeal in this connection. Pererika Street. Work has been commenced upon the widening of the metal in Pererika Street from 12 to 18 feet. Discount on Water Rates. An announcement is made by the Tourist Department that after June 30, 1932 discount will be allowed on aecounts for water rates payable in the Rotorua area. It therefore behoves anyone who is economicallyminded to attend to the payment of water rates before this-date.
Brilliant Spectacle. An unUsual sight was witnessed by passengers in a service car travelling towards Rotorua on Sunday evening. Wlien crossing the Mamaku hills a meteor of a multiplicity of colours was seen to light up the northern skies and eventually disappear towards the eastern horizon. Orchestral Trio. Music lovers will be interested to lcnow that arrangements have been made for the initial " public appearance in Rotorua of Louise Carrington's Orchestral Trio. In- the. past Louise Carrington has filled engagements with such well-known theatrical enterprises as J. C. Williamson's Opera Co., Fuller Hayward's Amalgamated Theatres, Ltd., and will preside at the piano. She will be assisted by Peg Fleming, violinist, and Eric Foster (both late of Amalgamated Theatres). The trio will appear in connection with the old-time dance being promoted by the I.O.O.F.
