MILLIONAIRE'S SON ELOPES AND WEDS DANCE GIRL. New York's ''Great White Way" to-day provided this season's tastiest morsel of gossip -when the news leaked out that Allan Carlisle, a Harvard under-graduate, and the son of Jay Carlisle, the millionaire Wall Street broker, had eloped with Miss Romaine Fleming, a professional dancing partner in a Broadway ballroom. Mr. Carlisle, it is said, first met the girl when he visited the Orpheum ! Dance Palace, in the Times Square district, and paid the customary 10 cents (5d) to dance with Miss Fleming. During the evening the couple entered a tango competition and won a silver loving cup, the first prize. Afterwards Mr. Carlisle paid frequent visits to the dance hall, paying ten cents for each dance, of which sum Miss Fleming, a pretty platinnm blonde, pocketed her regular commission of five cents. Finally Mr. Carlisle proposed, and in defiance of his parents' wishes, the weddingotook place while he was on his Christmas holidays from Harvard, the couple motoring to Rye, in New York State and enlisting the services of the local country pastor. Believing her wedding to Mr. Carlisle to be a complete secret, Miss Fleming returned to her job at the Orpheum and remained there for some time before. she left.
