WELCOME EVENING

NEW HEADMASTER OF * -OPOTIKI D.H.S. A very enthusiastic welcbme .evbning was given to Mr. and Mrs. Kibblewhite on Tuesday last. Mr. Kibblewhite succeeds Mr. P. Burton as headmaster to the Opotiki High School. The social took place in the Farmer's rooms, which were prettily decorated with green ferns and gaily coloured flowers for the occasion. On arrival, the guests of honour were received by Mr Payne (chairman of the School Committee) and Mrs. Payne. Mrs. Kibblewhite, who Was attired in a becottiing frock of navy beaute, was presented with a chafming bouquet of violets and ferm During the evening, Mr. Payne, on behalf of the School Committee and the school, weleomed Mr. and 'Mrs. Kibblewhite to the district, ahd Mr. N. Webb, on behalf of the O.D.H.S. Old Pupils, extended a cordial welcome also. , , "• Mr. Hitchens, depty Mayor, coSigratulated the newcomers on being trahsferred to this school.' . The evening was passed in bridge and dancing, the "music for the 'dancing being provided by the Gaiety orchestra. The winners of the , bridge were Mrs. F. Cave and Mr, Man'sell. Amongst the ladies present were: — Mesdames F. Cave, ecru lace and georgette with bridge coat; T. Pearspn, brown satin and bridge coat; E. Payne, navy georgette and lace;. A.
