Rec. June 23, 10:30 p.m. SYDNEY, Thursday. In the semi-fmals "of the State amateur championship, Dobson heat Brins den, the New Zealander, -fiye up and four to play. Bettington beat Ferrier, three and two'. The New Zealander, Brinsden, gave Dobson, a great game. He struck' the New South" Welshman right oii his game. Both were in the hunkers at the first. Brinsden played out in the second bunker and halved the hole in fouy. Dobson fopped his second at the next, and Brinsden won in four to five. Dobson took three putts atthe third and Brinsden won in par three to four, • . Brinsden was in the bunker with his second, while Dobson's second was two yards from the pin. Dobson won with a b'irdie three. The match was squared at the fifth. The sixth was halved in par three. At Ihe seventh, Brinsden's approach was nearly buried in the bunker. Dodson topped his brassie at the sixteenth, Brinsden winning five to six. Dobson was now three up. Brinsden missed an easy putt at the seventeenth for a win, and a half resulted. Brinsden brushed his second at the eighteenth and Dobson was hole high. The New South Wales player won in four to five, and so was four up at lunch. ' Lead Maintained A good approach gave Brinsden the nineteenth, in three to four. Dobson won the twentieth five to six, and was still four up. The twenty-first was halved in par three. At the twenty-second, Brinsden was deeply buried in the bunker and Dobson won the hole in five to six. Dobson was now five up. Brinsden hooked his drive at the twentythird, and then drove into a deep bunker. He recovered well, however, and downed a 10-foot putt for a win in four to five. Both were on the green at the twenty-fourh with their , tee shos, Brinsden wih a long putt was down in birdie three. Dobson three up. Missing Putts Dobson retaliated at the next by sinking a 15-foot putt to stand four u'p. A the twenty-sixth, Brinsden holed a six yarder for a half. The match finished at the thirty-second, Brinsden taking three putts, Dobson won the hole in three to four and the match five and four.
