THE WEATHER
The Government meteorologist iasued the folipwing weather report and forecast last night:— General situation: Pressure distribution is of a pronolmced westerly type and a slight anti-cyclone is crossing the northern Tasman Sea. Forecast: Winds, westerlies prevailing, strong i'n western districts, generally of gale force at times in exposed positions, particulariy about Foveaux Strait, moderate to strong in eastern districts. Weather: Mainly firie in eastern dis.tricts, but still squally and changeable, with heavy rain iri districts with a westerly aspect, accom'panied i'n places by hail and thunder. . Following are the barometer, maxtmum a'nd minimum thermometer, apd rainfall readings recordied at the Government Observation' Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department, for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday: — Barometer 3. 29.677ins. Thermometer (max.) 52.0deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 34.9cSeg. Rainfall O.OIins
