WOMEN'S CLUB

ENJOYABLE CONCERT FOR SANATORIUM PATIENTS. A VARIED PROGRAMME. t Another of many of the thoughtful acts done by the Women's Club took place last Friday evening in the shape of a concert which was given to the patients of the Sanatorium. Special mention is due to Mrs. N. M. Keane, who had the task of arranging the evening's programme, which proved a delightful entertainment, hoth to patients and others present. The talent was varied and in each capacity was of a very high standard. in the ahsence pf the president, Mrs. I. M. Davidson, Mrs. N. M. Keane car- , ried out her duties as "Mistress" for tha evening. The concert was opened hy a vtry graceful and dignified minuet danced hy four pupils of Miss Del Thompson. The old -world courtesy of the dance was emphasised by the charming ' frocks worn hy the dancers. A violin solo by Mrs. Felming followed and an '■elocutionary item by Mr. F. Jones, hoth items being well received. Wee : Noeline Pearce d-isplayed unbounded j energy and excellent technique in her ' interpretation of the sailor's hornpipe," and the rendering of th6 well known favourite, "I Passed hy youf Win-

i dow" by Mr. J. Buehan was well de- | serving of the encore it received. Miss ' Betty Keane then gave a very quaint description of how "Grandmama and Grandpapa" afe liable to mix green with blue and be quite oblivious of colour scheme. This was followed hy several very pleasing vocal numhers by Miss Krorifeldt. A dance hy a bevy of Miss Thomp- . son's "pupils, precpded hy a vocal number by Mr. F. Jones, adde^ to ;he lively side of the evening's programme, and a duet hy Mrs. Fleming and Mrs. Jones was most artistically > rendered. I Miss Gwenneth La Trobe Hill described how chatty women can make a nuisonce of themselves, in a humor- ; qug sketch, "At the Box-office Window," and Mrs. Jones concluded the concert portion of tlie evening with ■ a song. Supper was served by memhers of the Women's Club, the hostesses for the evening heing Mesdames N. M. Keane, G. Green, J. Campney, Ford . and Stewart. One cf the patients, on hehalf pf the inmates and nursing staff of the Scnatorium, thanked all those who hal helped in giving them such1 an • I enjoyahle evening and the programme | concluded with the National Anthem.
