. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

n. — By Telegtauh — Copyrlght).

•Rec. June 22, 7.50 p.m. LONDON, Wednesday. Confirming the need for reciprocal tariffs on Empire products, the Associated British Chambers of Commerce, in a pamphlet just issued, mentions the policy of some of the Empire countries in deciding to promote secondary industries regardless of the economic fact that their tariffs partly mitigate against preferences, whereas Great Britain gives the Dominions a free market. Great Britain has large trading interests with other countries and the only means of payment for British manufacturers is the exporting of primary products. Care must he taken that this means of payment has not interfered with trade. Nevei'theless, Great Britain will buy more from the Dominions than they will buy in foreign countries.
