ROADS AND SIGNALS
A
DRIVER.
(To the Editor) Sir, — Since at least two of our citizens have gone into print on the subject of road conditions. I would like to voice my protests regarding the very rough surface of the approaeh to the King George V. Hospital. One supposes the Government is responsible for this road. The unemployed boys, who 'picked it up recently made no improvement. Doubtless they only followed orders-— their's not to reason why, etc. Bind-
ing with pumice is clearly indicated. It is a fearful ride for intending patients, especially maternity cases. Couldn't something be done by our member in this direction? While one is on Government department subjects — how much longer will the motoring public have to wait for automatic signalling devices to be erected at the Ranolf Street and Fairy Springs Road rail crossings. Must a long-suffering people be kept waiting for a greater number of fatalities at these dangerous crossings. Autopiatic danger lights have been in operation at Tirau and Tarukenga for a considerable time now; why not at these other two crossings. Everyone who drives a car about Rotorua uses Ranolf Street, and a very large number of touring motorists in the camping season. Again a word from our member on the subject might bear fruit. ' I -am, etc.,
Rotorua, June 21.
