A. AND P. SHOW
OPENING TO-DAY RECORD ENTRIES PROMISE WELL FOR ANNUAL FIXTURE ENTERTAINMENT FEATURES One of the chief attractions of tlie winter season in Rotorua will commence to-day when the Rotorua Agricultural and Pastoral Association will open its annual Winter Show in the R.M. buildings. The opening address will, in the unavoidable absence of Mr C. JL Clinkard, M.P., be delivered by His Worship the Mayor, Mr. T. Jackson, at 2.30 p.in. after which the show will be' thrown open to the public and will remain open on both 'the afternoon and evening of to-day and to-morrow. During the past years, the standard of the show has been steadily improving in the number and quality of the exhibits displayed, until to-day the support for the various classes shows a large increase on the figures of previous years, and constitutes a record since the inauguration of the fixture ten years ago. Included in the large number of exhibits in this week's show will be sections to interest every class of patron from the farmer to the children. The young people themselves have made valuable "contributions to the exhibition, and will obtain educational knowledge from a visit accompanied either by the parents or by their school teachers. In providing the facilities for the forwarding of messages of greeting to relatives and friends of patrons in any part of the world, the Rotorua branch of the N.Z. Amateur Radio Transmitters Association has provided an attraction which alone will amply justify a visit to the show. It must be noted, however, that only messages of greeting are permitted to be transmitted in this manner. The judging of entrants for the baby show will commence in the show office immediately after the opening to-day, and will no doubt attract thecompetition and interest of parents. Entries may be made at any time up to the commencement of judging. Music will be provided by the Majestic Quintette, which will play selections in the exhibition hall throughout the two evening sessions. To-morrow evening, the association has arranged an Old Time Ball to be held in the Majestic Ballroom, and this function will serve as a iitting termination to what promises to be one of the most successful shows seen in Rotorua. In order to provide music for the ball the services of a wall known and experieneed accordeon player have been secured to combine with the orchestra in the old time music. Very complete arrangements have been made for the ball which promises to be an outstanding attraction. Both from an entertainment and an educational point of view, the show promises to provide two gala days for the residents of Rotorua and its outlying districts. ;
