THE VAMPIRE AT WORK
A STRASBURG HORROR. Another murder of a young Strasburg woman recently has led the police to believe that the "Vampire of Strasburg" has been at work again. The vietim was Mlle Eugenie Hubert, aged twenty-six. As in the case of the lcilling of Mlle Meyer, the young typist, three months ago, Mlle Hubert was found strangled with her own clothing. There are other details 1 similar to those surrounding the death of Mlle Meyer which eompel the police
agam to take up the theory that a fiend of the type of the Dusseldorf murderer is still at large. Witnesses told the police that they \ saw Mlle Hubert in a cafe with a man ; whose description fits that of a man \ they have been looking for in connec- 1 tion with the death of Mlle Meyer. ! After the murder of Mlle Meyer 1 the police arrested an ex-convict, but j later he was released. The "Vampire," during the police activity in that murder, sent anonymous letters to the authorities threatening to murder an- ' other girl and M. Adriene, the examin- ! ing magistrate in charge of the case.
