silk and brinsden beat their respective opponents

Rec. June 20, 10.5 p.m. SYDNEY, Monday. The New South Wales amateur , singles golf championship was advanced a further stage to-day. R. H. Bettington played amazing golf against H. Petterson in the fourth rounid. He took only 19 strokes for the first six holes, three under par, and was out in 33, to be dormie nine. Another surprise was the defeat of H. Hambleton, who had previously accounted for the New Zealander, Hornabrook. The New Zealanders, Brinsden and Silk, shaped well to beat Garland and Lee-Brown respectively. In the fourth round, Silk was two up on his fellow New Zealander upon turning for home-, but Brinsden squared the match at the 17th, where Silk pulled under a bush. Silk missed a 12 foot putt for a half at the 18th and Brinsden won one up. Resiilts: Third round, Brinsden beat Garland, four and three,; Silk beat Lee-Brown, 2 and 1 ; Ferrier beat N .Brown, 6 and 5; Hatherley beat Hector Morrison, 3 and 2 ; Bettington beat "Wright, 1 up. Fourth round: Brinsden beat Silk, one up, Bettington beat Petterson, nine and eight, Ferrier beat Thompson, five and four. Hatherley beat Ruwald, two and one.
