TIMING OF SPARK.

Under ordinary running conditions in a six-cylinder car travelling at 60 m.p.h., the "make and break" of the ignition system has to open and shut 150 times a second, the points remaining in contact for about four-thous-andths of a second. To obtain the utmost engine efficiency it is necessary that the ignition distributor contacts should he correctly adjusted to ensure synchronisation. Incorrect adjustment of the contacts will affect the timing of the spark, and even the character of the spark itself. For upholstery alone, the hides from a thousand heasts, and many miles of fabric, carpets and felts, are used each week by a leading factory in England.
