THE WEATHER
The Government meteorologist issued the following weather report and forecast last night: — General Situation: Another of a series of deep westerly depressions is passing to the South to-day, barometers are rising slowly in eastern Australia. Forecast: Winds strong westerly, Teaching gale force in piaces later backihg to south-westerly and southerly. Weather: Squally and changeable with rain in districts with a westerly aspect and iater extending along most of the East Coast: hail in piaces and snow in parts of the South Island; cold temperatures. Following are the barometer, max.1mum and minimum thermometer, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department, for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m- yesterday: — Barometer 29.660ins. Thermometer (max.) 52.6deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 31.4deg Rainfall .... Trace
