HUNT CLUB

MEMBERS ENJOY FASTEST RUN OF PRESENT SEASON ' The two dozen riders who gathered at the lcennels on Mr. T. Jackson's property on Saturday afternoon, for an outing of the Rotorua Hunt Club, were rewarded, despite the inclement weather conditions with excellent spoi-t. Every hound of the seven couples taken on the outing worked well.

They held the line without faltering and maintained a fast pace throughout the day. Several hares were put up, one providing a long and strenuous run, while another provided a kill. The run was the best so far experienced this season. The field moved off from Mr. Boord's property on the Old Taupo Road where the hounds drew the area thoroughly bnt without success. A move was then made to Mr. Yonng's property where the hounds worked the gorse along the banks of the Utuhina Stream. They soon picked up a scent and puss made off closely followed by tbe pack across Mr. Moody's property. The hounds had puss hard pressed but she double d on her tracks through Mr. Jackson's property making for where she was first put up. Finally, after an exciting run through Messrs Stainer's and Gunson's properties the hare fonnd some scrub and tried to sit but was quickly dislodged again. She then took a straight line through this farm, crossed the Old Taupo Road and entered the Arikikapakapa golf course. The hounds hunted the line well until when close to the Whaka Road the scent was lost among the footsteps of the golfers. The hounds were then called off after providing the fastest run of the season. A move was then made back to Springfield where the hounds were worked in an area of ti tree, and here they found and dislodged a hare which provided practically no run at all. Tbe pack were on top of her as soon as she left cover and a kill was made.
