A. AND P. SHOW
HIGH STANDARD OF EXHIBITS ARRANGED FOR NEXT WEEK'S DISPLAY. ENTRIES CLOSE ON SATURDAY. Complete arrangements have been made by the Rotorua Agricultural and Pastoral Association for this year's Winter Sbow which will open at the R.M. Buildings on Wednesday next, June 22 at 2.30 p.ni. With the inclusion of many new features the aim of the association in surpassing the efforts of former years is being justified and indications point to the Show being even better than the high standard set in former years. Considerable trouble has been necessary in providing facilities for the special radio stand which has been arranged to enable messages of greeting to be sent by patrons of the show to their friends both in New Zealand and overseas, and there is no doubt that these facilities will be fully availed of by those attending the show. In order to mahe this service possible, it has been necessary to arrange with amateur shortwave radio transmitters as far distant as America to receive and relay the messages which will be transmitted from the Show buildings in view of the public. An endeavour also is being made to arrange for a.gymnastic display by members of the Rotorua Gymnastic Club during the two days of the show, and if successfully arranged, the exhibition will without doubt attract considerable attention and int6rGst» The secretary, (Mr. H. Wilkinson) reports that unfortunately, the entries for some of the classes, particularly Poultry, are not as large as it was hoped they might be, and with a view to giving intending exhibitors a final chance to malce their entries, an advertisement appears in another column of this issu'e extending the closing date for this class to Saturday next June 18, when entries for all other classes will also close. In connection with poultry classes it should be noted that the North Island Championship, awarded by-the North Island Poultry Pigeon and Canary Association, in the light Sussex classes, will be competed for at the show. The miscellaneous classes include exhibitions of painting, photography and Maori arts and crafts, a competition for the best knitted article having also been added to the needlework section. Music during the show will be provided by the Majestic Quintette, an orchestra well known to the public of Rotorua for their high-class performances. It is therefore assured that with a variety of entertainment hitherto unthought of in Rotorua the visit of all who attend will be a most enjoyable one.
