GLOVES INTERESTING

Gloves are thrilkng just now, writes a London correspondent, and for 'afternoon wear I would suggest suede decorated with "nervures" on the hand, and fastened up one side with a multitude of tiny buttons which harmonise very well with our much-buttonod dresses. Perhaps the gloves would he the same colour as the dx'ess, or th.y might be black. Gloves sprinkled with tiny holes are cliarming, and others with white stitching are very smart. For the evening there are exquisite short gloves with a little cuff made of two frills and fastened tight round the wrist with a little bow. ThesS look like gloves in long-ago pictures and are the very latest thing. For the morning we have kid gauntlets with a neat pattern, and for cold weather the most exquisitely soft creations made of hare's fur woven into wool in black or brown. The comfort of these is indescribable, as they have none of the horror of woollen gloves and yet all the warmth. Gloves are so important! There is an old say ing that if you are well gloved, well hatted and well shod, you are a perfectly dressed woman. And another legend tells us that the French woman puts on her gloves in her bedroom, the American woman on the stairs, and the English woman in the street. There is something in these sayings, as no woman can look smart with untidy gloves and a bag which clashes with her clothes.
