Rec. Jurie 16, 1 a.m. PERTH, Wednesday An intensive air search by Pilol Surcliff iri orie .of the Western Australian Airways 'planes to-day, resulted in the discovery of Bertram's seaplane, practieally undaraaged or a tiny island north-west of Wyndham, about 100 miles from the Drysdale mission station. Native runners from the mission assert that Bertram and a companion, or companions, were apparently murdered by hostile tribesmen and their effects stolen . and distributed, which may account for the discovery of the cigarette case and handkercliief. They say it would be impossible to live among the tribes either upon Eric Island or Ellis Island, which are qlose together, The seaplane was located on Eric Island. One wing had been propped up. Apparently the crew came ashore and met the fate which the natives say was inevitable. However, the search is being coritihued.
