THE WEATHER
The Government meteorologist i»sued the following weather report and foreca6t last night: — General situation*. A feeble antU cyclone has been located to the east between the East Cape and Akaroa; barometers are low to-day to the east and north of New Zealand a/id an intense and exterjsive westerly low pressure area covers eastern Australia. Forecast: Winds moderate and variable at first, .but later northerlies to westerlies prevailing and freshening. Weather: Unsettled, cloudy, and hazy, with rain in most districts;dnov/ on the high country; conditions are likely to be disturbed for several days. Following are the barometer, maximum and minimum thermometer, and rainfall readjngs recorded at the Government Observation Statipn by the Rotorua Tourist Department, for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday: — Barometer 29.636|ns. Thermometer (max.) .... .... 53.4deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 25.7deg Rainfall Nil
