SHEEP PRICES FALL CATTLE VALUES MAINTAINED FRANKTON, Tuesday. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their usual weekly stock sale at the Frankton saleyards on Tuesday, 14th as under: — Fat sheep — There was an average yarding, but competition was dull, and' late prices were not obtainable. Fat and unfinished wethers suffered a further drop. Prime young ewes sold at late rates, while aged and inferior fat ewes were slightly lower. Extra prime fat wethers sdld at up to 13/11; fat wethers, 11/6 to 13/2; smaller wethers, 10/6 to 11/3; young fat ewes, 8/9 to 10/3; aged, fat ewes, 6/3 to 7/6; fat lambs, 9/- to 12/6. Fat cattle — There was an average yarding and prices generally were on a par with last week's values. Extra prime ox sold up to £6/6/-; medium quality ox, £2/16/- to £5/5/-; young cows and heifers, £2/15/- to £3/12/-; inferior fat cows, 25/- to 40/-; boners, 10/- to 20/-. Pigs — A medium yarding of both fat and store pigs came forward and eased slightly on last week's quotation. Best baconers sold up to £2/4/-; medium baconers, £1/13/- to £1/17/-; light baconers and heavy porkers, £1/7/- to £1/13/-; medium porkers, £1 to £1/6/-; light porkers, 14/- to 18/-; best stores, 12/- to 16/-; best stores, 12/- to 16/-; slips, 7/- to 10/-; best weaners, 5/- to 7/-; others, 21- to 4/-; sows in pig, 18/- to £l/7/-; sows with litters, £3/5/-. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report: — Cattle — Average numbers of all sorts were yarded. Ox beef met with a steady demand and late rates were maintained, while competition for cow beef slackened and prices receded slightly. No change is again reported for store cattle. Prime, medium-weight ox beef made from £4/10/- to £5/3/-; lighter, do. £3/15/- to £4/10/-; poor-conditioned do, £2/17/6 to £3/12/6;; prime cow beef, £3/7/6 to £3/15/-; medium, do, £2/15/- to £3/5/-; lighter, £2/5/- to £2/12/6; light, £1/18/- to £2/3/-; killable, £1/11/- to £1/17/-; stores, 18/- to 26/-; boners, 10/- to 17/-. Sheep — The fat wethers which were penned in heavy numbers were not in so keen demand as last week, and quotations are a shade lower. Prices for fat ewes increased appreciably owing to the small entry. A usual number of fat lambs were sold at slightly lower rates than those ruling recently. Very prime wethers, 14/6 to 15/-; prime wethers, 13/- to 14/-; medium quality, 11/to 12/9; lighter, 10/- to 11/-; prime ewes, 8/- to 9/-; medium, do, 7/--to 8/-; others, to 6/-; prime lambs, 12/to 14/-; medium, do, 10/- to 12/-; light, 8/6 to 10/-. Pigs — Fat pigs met with an easier market than last week, values showing a sharp decrease. Stores and weaners were about on a par with late rates. Heavy baconers, £1/18/to £2/2/-; lighter, do, 32/- to 36/-; larger stores, 27/- to 30/-; smaller, do, 18/- to 24/-; stores, 12/- to 16/-; slips, 8/- to 11/-; weaners, 5/- to 7/6. The Farmers Auctioneering Co., report: We had an extra heavy yarding of all classes of fat sheep, including a large proportion of fi&t wethers. Competition was fair and fat lambs and wethers remained unchanged, but the market for fat ewes showed a firming tendency. Cattle:— A very heavy yarding of ox beef was entered and prices remained firm at last week's quotations. There was little alteration on a good yarding of prime cow beef, but second quality showed an1 improvement. A medium yarding of store cattle met with late quotations. A small yarding of both fat and store pigs came forward. Fats were slightly easier, but stores and weaners remained on a par with last week's rates. We quote. Prime fat wethers, 13/6 to 15/-; medium, 12/- to 13/-; light, 10/- to 11/3; forward-condi-tioned wethers, 8/- to 9/3; heavy prime fat ewes, 8/3 to 9/-; fat ewes 6/- to 6/9; forward ewes, 4/- to 5/2; heavy fat lambs, 12/6 to 13/6; medium, 10/9 to 11/6; light, 8/6 to 9/9. Cattle: Runners, 39/- . to £2 7/-; vealers, 14/- to 18/-; medium fat steers, £5 6/- to £5 14/-, light, £4 10/- to £4 19/-; heavy fat cows, £3 14/- to £4 3/-; medium £2 15/- to £3 i 37-; medium fat cows and heifers, £2 10/- to £3 1/-; light fat cows, 32/6 to £2 2/6; killable, 22/- to 28/-; bulls, 20/- to 30/-. Pigs: Choppers, 24/- to 32/-; heavy baconers, £2 2/- to £2 4/-; medium, 33/- to 38/-; medium porkers, 19/ - to 22/-; light, 14/- to 18/-; stores, 10/to 14/6; weaners, 3/6 to 8/-; slips, 8/- to 10/-.
