GOOD LEMONS

DOMINION FRUIT POPULAR. "New Zealand-grown lemons -are becoming so goo~d that the time is not far distant when we will not need to import any from outside," said a Wellington fruit merchant to a representative of The Dominion this week. "Even now we are producing a good quality lemon, full of juice, and good enough for any purpose," he contin-

ued. "Fifteen or twenty years ago our lemons were no good. They were thiclc skinned and dry, but with the aid of the Agricultural Department proper stocks have been imported, and they are doing well, partieularly in the Bay of Plenty distriet, which promises to supply the whole of NeV Zealand. Good lemons at one time had to come from Australia or even from Europe, hut to-day the Nevr Zealand lemon is first-rate fruit, and it is improving each season as the trees attain niaturity."
