Death of Mi\ T. Grinter The friends of Mr. T. Grinter, the senior partner of the firm of Messrs Grinter Eros., who put in the Rotorua suburban drainage system, will regret to hear that his death is reported from Auckland. He passed away at his home at Mt. Roskill on June 11. Rotorua Dental Clinic The new dental nurse, Miss N. Hall, who recently took up duty in the new primary sehool's dental clinic at King George V. Hospital, expresses herself as entirely satisfied with the rooms and conveniences provided for the carrying out of the work of the clinic. The rooms and furnishings are well arranged and the light is excellent. The installation of electric light and power was heing carried out yesterday, and this work should be completed this morning. Thefts of Chocolates Between 9.30 on Saturday evening and eight o'clock on Monday morning approximately £4 worth of confectionary was stolen from the stall in tlie lounge at the Majestic Theatre. The thief practically confined his operations to chocolates, and removed several large show hoxes, the remainder being mostly slab chocolate. The matter is in the hands of the police. Rotorua Resident's Success It was announced from station 2YA Wellington, last night, that a Rotorua resident, Miss Jean Bailey, of Miss Macdermott's gramophone shop, Rotorua, has taken third prize in the 1YA section of the recent musical competition conducted by the four YA stations. Recorded music was broadcast and the competi-tors were asked to name the pieces played. Sewerage Connections The work of connecting houses in the suburban drainage area with the sewerage system, is proceeding steadily. A total of 248 houses have now been connected'in the gravitation area and 101 in the low-lying, or pumping area. The nature of the work undertaken in fhe latter portion of the system amply demonstrates the wisdom of providing adequate drainage as the saturated, condition of the soil in many places constituted a real menace to public health. Beautifying Reserve Under the direction of Mr Tschopp good progress is being made with the beautifying of the small reserve

at the end of Whaka Road. This work, in connection with the improvements being effected by the Tourist Department, will greatly add to the attractivenfess of that entrance to the town% Top Prices for Sheep Suhstantial evidence of the good progress being made in the development of native lands in this distriet is afforded by the success attending a recent consignment of sheep to the Westfield saies. Eight trucks of fats sent forward last week brought 15/a head, the top price for the sale. The sheep were consigned by the Waiariki Land Board and were grazed on the Tihi-o-tonga block. Another four truck loads from the same area are being dispatched. School Dental Nurse. The recently appointed schools dental nurse for the Rotorua distriet, Miss N. Hall, has taken up duty. Consent notices to parents have already been despatched and as soon as these are returned, the nurse will proeeed with the preliminary examination of -the children's teeth.
