W KLDiiN (jiUiN , ivionaay. A passenger by the Monowai from i Sydney to-day, was Mr. A. W. Car? rington, who represents the United Australian Press at the- Imperial Economic Conference at Ottawa. In an interview, Mr. Carrington said that the conference was expected to last four to five weeks, and at the termination, it was probable that the Canadian Government would invite the delegates from the various Dominions to the beauty spots of the 'country. The general endeavour of the Australian delegation will be to secure preferential duties with Great Britain on all primary produce and in return Great Britain will probably ask for preferential treatment on her manufactures. Australian manufacturers do not view with approval any action which will re-act detrimentally on their home industries. - The economy side of the conference dealing with adjustments of war loans and 'debts should be the most vital part of it. " On the delegation's arrival in Vancouver," Mr. S. M. Bruce, leader of the delegation will probably deliver an importapt policy spe'eeh. The delegates will proceed to Canada via Auckland.
