MAJESTIC THEATRE

TO-NIGHT. Is it worth while to risk one's own romance to frustrate a discarded lover's attempt to win a younger sister? Gloria Swanson in "Indiscreet," which opened last night at the Majestic Theatre, finds a way to overcome that situation with a highly ,colourful dramatic performance pror viding good entertainment with a decided emphasis. The film brings to mind the star's earlier success, "The Trespasser," having a central character who risks her own happiness to save another from heartbreak. It all comes about because of a former admirer . of shallow affectio'ns, who ,gets himself engaged to the girl's young sister. The story was •written, especially for the star by De Sylva, Brown and Henderson, famous picture producers and composers, who with this production make their bow in the dramatic field. The two numbers written by them especially for Miss Swanson — "Come To me" and "If You Haven't Got Love" — permit the star to demonstrate once again that she has one of the most engaging voices in pictures. A splendid supporting cast appears with Miss Swanson. It comprises handsome, debonair Ben Lyon, who turns in a fine performance opposite Miss Swanson; Monroe Owsley as the "menace;" Barbara Kent and Arthur Lake to whose lost falls the comedy-making, and Maude Elburne, Nella Walker and Henry Kolker.
