The scowling person jumped in and t'ook the only vaeant seat in the Auckland tram just as it was starting. Gazing about him with evident disgust at all the pipes in full blast he sneeringly remarked: "Last year X visited the London Zoo and saw a monkey smoking a pipe.'' Like a flash came the rejoinder from somebody, "Yes, its wonderful hoW intelligent some monkeys are. Got more savvy than some humans I've met," Xtoars of laughter followed. Why will these eranks treat smokers as though they were fools or worse? They condemn all tobacco- as health- destroying, whereas it may be nothing of the kind. Look, for example, at our popular New Zealand brands. Pure and good as tobacco can be, not health-destroying because they soothe jaded nerves, and bring rest and peace to the tired brain. Quite harmless too, because they are toasted. The toasting eliminates the nicotine in them to a considerable extent, besides enhancing flavour and fragrance. Four brands only: Riverhead Gold, Navy Cut No. 3, Cavendish, and Cut Plug No, 10.
A GRAND OLD REMEDY In the entire annals of New Zealand business, it is difflcult to find a more striking example of a continued respeet and confidence in a line, as is the case with Baxter's Lung Preserver. To-day "Baxter's" is given to children whose fathers And mothers, grandfathers and grandmothers, and greatgrandfathers and great-grandmOthers have also benefited by this grand old remedy for coughs, colds, cliest and throat afflictions. Xt is a wonderful tribute to a wonderful preparation. All chemists and stores sell "Baxter's" in three sizes. TJSk Prfi iiillTll 1TIT
