THE WEATHER
The Government meteorologist issued the following weather report and forecast last night: — ~ General Situation: An intense anticyclone covers South-eastern Australia and pressure is high also over New Zealand, but a shallow depression is developing in the Tasman Sea. Forecast: Winds variable at first but shortly tending northerly and freshening somewhat.' Weather: Fine practically generally at first, but becoming unsettled in the western and northern districts to-morrow, rain developing and extending later to other districts; temperatures becoming temporarily milder. t'V z* Following are the barometer, maxlmum and minimum thermometer, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department, for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday: — Barometer 30.060ins. Thermometer (max.) 52.6deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 23.5deg. Rainfall .... i.. Nil
