GRAVE FEARS FOR IRISH PRESIDENT'S LIFE CONSIDERED REACTIONARY

LONDON, Monday. Armed detectives are closely guarding Mr. De Valera, day and night, says the Sunday Graphic. . All Dublin knows the police and military live in hourly dread of the President's assassination, not by liis opponents but by the hotheads in his own party. The Irish Republican Army contains 30,000 members and is daily growing. All are extremists and some are Communists, whilst others are strongly anti-clerical. The hotheads regard Mr. De Valera as a reaetionary, influenced by his wife's political views. Mr. De Valera lives in the Government Buildings, whare he uses a Spartan bedroom furnished with the harest necessities. He rarely visi'ts his own home, where his wife lives a loiioly life with her seven children.
